August 19 2008

Last week I was in Copenhagen for YAPC::Europe. One of the announcements at the conference was the location of next year's conference which will be in Lisbon. The theme of next year's conference will be "Corporate Perl". And that (along with a... read more

Perl Teach-In

June 03 2007

Yesterday was the Perl Teach-In at the BBC. People have been saying for months (years probably) that Perl is dying. If that’s true, then I’d like to know why the fifty places on the course were fully booked in less than two days and why another forty people signed up… read more

Free Perl Training in London

May 03 2007

Senior perl programmers seem to be in short supply in London. They may well be in short supply in other places too as far as I know, but it’s London-based recruitment agents that are calling me every couple of days asking for help and advice. A couple of months ago, Simon… read more

YAPC::EU 2006 - Day 3

September 08 2006

This year’s YAPC::Europe conference was held in Birmingham. In this post I look at the third and final day of the conference. Another early start of course, and I could definitely see a dilemma in the eyes of some attendees. On one hand the previous night’s conference dinner and the subsequent… read more

YAPC::EU 2006 - Day 2

September 06 2006

This year’s YAPC::Europe conference was held in Birmingham. In this post I look at the second day of the conference and that evening’s conference dinner. Days start early at YAPCs. They start particularly early if you’ve woken up with a few last-minute ideas for changes to a presentation you’re giving that… read more

YAPC::EU 2006 - Day 1

September 05 2006

Last week I was at the annual YAPC::Europe conference which was held this year in Birmingham. It had been a few years since I’d been to a YAPC, but this one was so much fun that I’m kicking myself for missing the last two. In this report, I talk about… read more
